Electronics

ELECTRONICS

DEPARTMENT PROFILE

Electronics  subject was introduced in the academic year 1988 – 89 as a wing of department of Physics. Department of Electronics was bifurcated as an independent department in August 2020.

The department presently offers two courses, PME & MECs. The present student intake for UG course is 60. The department has well equipped laboratory facility. The curriculum & syllabi designed provide a comprehensive foundation of the core subject. To promote student centric learning department timely conducts hands-on training. academic/field visits, workshops on current topics, value added courses, projects, in-house seminars etc.

Department in association with department of Physics has organized 4 National Seminars, 6 workshops, 15 Guest lectures & 7 Extension activities.

Students are encouraged by faculty to participate in National level seminars/conferences, projects & science exhibitions. Our Alumni are placed in prestigious organizations like Infosys, Wipro, L&T, TCS, Cape Gemini etc., also placed in various fields of state and central government.

COURSE COMBINATIONS

  • Physics, Mathematics & Electronics (PME)
  • Mathematics, Electronics & Computer Science (MECs)

COURSE OUTCOMES

Electronics is one of the branch Science. The course emphasizes on analog and digital electronic circuits. The objective of this course is to provide fundamental theoretical and practical knowledge to undergraduate students to excel in advanced topics of analog and digital electronics.

The key areas of study within course are  Semiconductor Devices, analog and digital communication system, Discrete time signals,  analog and digital circuit, microprocessors , Microcontroller systems computer languages etc.

The course enables the students to define, understand and design electronic, electrical, computer, communication system as well as provides skills to the students to cater the need of industrial applications.

PROGRAM SPECIFIC OUTCOMES

  • To understand the principles and mechanism of electronic components.
  • Knowledge about various electronic circuits, linear integrated circuits &  power electronic devices and their applications.
  • Knowledge of various communication systems ( analog and digital) & their working.
  • To understand architecture, programming skills and  interfacing techniques of  8 – bit microprocessor (8085) and microcontroller (8051).
  • This course develops programming skills using C – language and MATLAB
  • Capability to design and conduct experiments/projects.
