DEPARTMENT PROFILE
The department had the honor of imparting education in Mathematics at P.G. level from 1948 to 1957, further it was restarted in the year 2010 to meet the demand of potential students to pursue higher education and to create a platform for researchers to do the research work on the thrust areas of Mathematics. Ours is the first Department in North Karnataka to start NET/SLET coaching classes and the same is continued. The Department also provides an opportunity to pursue research in Mathematics. In the history of this campus our Department had the honor to organize an International Conference.
The prominent faculty members has contributed a lot for the growth of the Department and were recognized as Research Guides by the reputed Universities and are guiding the students for Ph.D. Degree. Many of the alumni are serving in Teaching field, Research field, Govt. sectors, Banking sectors and etc.
PROGRAM OBJECTIVE (PO)
Gain sound knowledge on fundamental principles and concepts of Mathematics and computing with their applications related to Industrial, Engineering, Biological and Ecological problems. Exhibit in depth the analytical and critical thinking to identify, formulate and solve real world problems of science and engineering. Competent to gain positions in industry and academic as well Recognize the need for continuous learning to prepare in all-round development throughout the professional career. Gain experience investigating real world problems and learn how to apply mathematical ideas and models those problems.
PROGRAM SPECIFIC OBJECTIVE (PSO)
Understanding the fundamental axioms in Mathematics & capability of developing ideal based on them. Inculcate Mathematical reasoning Prepare & motivate for research studies in related field. Assist for preparing Competitive Exams such as NET/SLET, GATE.

RESEARCH AREAS
Analysis is process of collecting and interpreting facts, identifying the problems, and decomposition of system, into its component. Fuzzy Logic comes with Mathematical concepts of set theory and the reasoning of that is quite simple. It provides a very efficient solution to complex problems in all fields of life as it resembles human reasoning and decision making. Fluid Dynamics understanding how fluids flow and interact with their environment is an extensive field of research in applied Mathematics. Graph theory is the Mathematical study of system of interacting element. The elements are modeled as notes in a graph, and their connections are represented as edges. It has wide application in all the fields. Differential Equations is wide field in pure and applied Mathematics, Physics and Engineering. Algebra has increasingly emphasized the subjects connection with an application to other areas of Mathematics. Wavelet Analysis has been employed over the past decades. Wavelets are used to transform the given mathematical function under investigation into another representation which is in more useful form to analyze.
